MyGlam.com January Bag

I've been receiving Julep's monthly subscription box for 6 months now, and while I haven't had any problems with their service, I decided to cancel that service and replace it with the MyGlam.com monthly beauty bag subscription. Julep features primarily nail and hand care products from their own line, while the MyGlam service features an assortment of products from many different brands that offer cosmetics, hair care, skin care, and other beauty related items. The cost is $10 per month. I should note that I am not affiliated with MyGlam.com, and the links I'm furnishing are simply links to the product manufacturer.

My January box arrived last month, and I'm expecting my February box any day now. To join MyGlam, you can go to their site and fill out a short beauty profile to get started. Each month you'll receive an assortment of 4-5 full-sized or deluxe sized samples, all packed in a cosmetics bag. Here's a look at what my January bag included:

I adore The Balm and have quite a few of their make up palettes, but I've never tried one of their nail polishes, so I was happy to receive You're So Hot & Gold. Some MyGlam members received an eye shadow single, but I'm happy with the polish. This is full sized at 0.5 fl. oz., and it's a sparkly mix of holographic glitter, perfect to use as a top coat over a darker base color. The retail price for The Balm polishes is $10.00.

Freeman's Cucumber Peel-Off Mask is also full-sized at 6 fl. oz. I have several Freeman products that I enjoy using, so this is nice to have in my stash of skin care products. The retail price for this product is $3.99.

Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner will be my first Wen product. Here's a brief product description from Wen: A 5-in-1 formula, this one product takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner. It cleanses hair thoroughly but without lathering and all the harsh ingredients that may be found in ordinary shampoos—it is designed so it won't strip your hair and scalp of their natural oils. I've heard good things about this line of hair care products, so I'm excited to try this out. I'm already in love with the scent! The 16 fl. oz. size retails for $36.00, and the tube in the MyGlam bag is 2 fl. oz.

Sheer Cover Duo Concealer is a "new to me" brand. Sheer Cover specializes in mineral based cosmetics, and the product description says "A unique pigment and mineral complex that provides full coverage with a sheer, flawless finish." This product retails for $19.95 on HSN for the .10 oz. size, which is the size I received.

My thoughts on the first bag I received are mostly positive. For $10.00, I received plenty of product. Would I have gone out and selected these specific products? Probably not, but that's part of the fun in receiving these services, because there's always that element of surprise. I wasn't overly excited about any of the products (well, maybe The Balm polish made my heart skip a beat!), but I'm not disappointed either. My hope is that after trying out the goodies, I'll discover some new products and brands along the way, and some of those products will become staples in my beauty routine.

My transaction with MyGlam went well, but I have heard that some people received bags later than they anticipated. Each month also includes a different style of cosmetics bag, but I already have more than enough of those, so that's not really a big draw for me. Also included, are product information cards and coupon codes for the products in the bag. I'll keep my subscription for a couple of months to see how it goes, but with new subscriptions from other companies coming out constantly these days, I'll probably move on to a new one in the future. I get bored easily!

Has anyone else signed up for MyGlam? Let us know your thoughts if you have--good, bad or indifferent.

  1. Glad to see that some people actually got their bag from them. I signed up and was charged in December and never received the January bag. They gave me 2 tracking numbers that didn't work and only refunded me after I filed a dispute with my bank. Awful customer service over there by the way, I had to threaten blogging about it to even get a response the first time. Hopefully they fix their issues and I actually get the February bag or else I'm done with them.

  2. Very interesting items. I hope you like the Wen product. I love using it and am glad to see it out in stores. I used to get it from QVC.

  3. I subscribe to both Birchbox and Julep maven. I know tons of people got disappointed because Birchbox samples are tiny plus they include "snacks" but I love it. not sure of my glam is for me yet. I may cancel one that I have now and try it for a month or two.

  4. Wen is amazing!! i have brown hair with blonde and purple in it. it is the only product that does not kill my color. i can go months without dying my hair, is awesome.

also, i'd love to see a picture of the bag the stuff came in. is it like a useable make up bag?

  5. I cancelled my Birchbox subscription to get this and I am not disappointed. My favorite item from this month has to be the concealer. Its so creamy and smooth.

My first Glambag didn't even get sent. But once I contacted customer service, they sent one out almost immediately. So I have no complaints about them. Can't wait to see what I get this month!
