My January box arrived last month, and I'm expecting my February box any day now. To join MyGlam, you can go to their site and fill out a short beauty profile to get started. Each month you'll receive an assortment of 4-5 full-sized or deluxe sized samples, all packed in a cosmetics bag. Here's a look at what my January bag included:
I adore The Balm and have quite a few of their make up palettes, but I've never tried one of their nail polishes, so I was happy to receive You're So Hot & Gold. Some MyGlam members received an eye shadow single, but I'm happy with the polish. This is full sized at 0.5 fl. oz., and it's a sparkly mix of holographic glitter, perfect to use as a top coat over a darker base color. The retail price for The Balm polishes is $10.00.
Freeman's Cucumber Peel-Off Mask is also full-sized at 6 fl. oz. I have several Freeman products that I enjoy using, so this is nice to have in my stash of skin care products. The retail price for this product is $3.99.
Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner will be my first Wen product. Here's a brief product description from Wen: A 5-in-1 formula, this one product takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner. It cleanses hair thoroughly but without lathering and all the harsh ingredients that may be found in ordinary shampoos—it is designed so it won't strip your hair and scalp of their natural oils. I've heard good things about this line of hair care products, so I'm excited to try this out. I'm already in love with the scent! The 16 fl. oz. size retails for $36.00, and the tube in the MyGlam bag is 2 fl. oz.
Sheer Cover Duo Concealer is a "new to me" brand. Sheer Cover specializes in mineral based cosmetics, and the product description says "A unique pigment and mineral complex that provides full coverage with a sheer, flawless finish." This product retails for $19.95 on HSN for the .10 oz. size, which is the size I received.
My thoughts on the first bag I received are mostly positive. For $10.00, I received plenty of product. Would I have gone out and selected these specific products? Probably not, but that's part of the fun in receiving these services, because there's always that element of surprise. I wasn't overly excited about any of the products (well, maybe The Balm polish made my heart skip a beat!), but I'm not disappointed either. My hope is that after trying out the goodies, I'll discover some new products and brands along the way, and some of those products will become staples in my beauty routine.
My transaction with MyGlam went well, but I have heard that some people received bags later than they anticipated. Each month also includes a different style of cosmetics bag, but I already have more than enough of those, so that's not really a big draw for me. Also included, are product information cards and coupon codes for the products in the bag. I'll keep my subscription for a couple of months to see how it goes, but with new subscriptions from other companies coming out constantly these days, I'll probably move on to a new one in the future. I get bored easily!
