What's Your Favorite Fall 2011 Polish Collection?

Now that most of the Fall 2011 polish collections have been revealed, do you have an overall favorite? I know many of us haven't seen all of the collections in real life because they're not yet available, but what are your first impressions? There are six brands that I tend to think of as the most mainstream: Orly, Zoya, OPI, Essie, Color Club, and China Glaze, and below are their Fall offerings. Of course there are many other brands that we love, but of these six, do you have a favorite Fall Collection?

I personally like my accessories--I do consider nail polish to be an accessory!--to reflect the season of the moment for the most part, and after a long, hot Summer, I'm ready for earth tones, smoky hues, and shades that make me really feel the season. The changing reds and golds of the leaves, bonfires, cool nights, crisp autumn blue skies, leather boots, soft sweaters...these are the things that come to mind when I think of Fall, and I like to see those shades represented in the Fall collections.

Thinking back over the past couple of years, Orly has often been my favorite Fall collection. I'm having that same thought again this year. A pop of color, some traditional Fall tones, and a variety of finishes all appeal to me in the Birds of a Feather Collection.

I must admit though, Zoya's Smoke & Mirrors is a collection that really reflects my favorite Fall moods and colors.

OPI Touring America has a handful of shades I'm interested in, but it definitely doesn't "look" like what I want a Fall collection to represent. I'd prefer to see smaller collections with more originality than a larger collection that has just a couple of Fall-like shades and a majority of what I'll call "filler" shades.

I love the theme of Essie's Brand New Bag, and I think the color palette is Fall-like. But the more I see swatches of this collection though, the less enthused I am about it overall.

This is the only Fall collection that I have so far, and there are some great Fall shades in Color Club's Back to Boho set. There are some shades that don't do anything for me though, and again, I'd prefer to see less shades that are more unique and true to the season, than a larger collection with some random shades included.

The China Glaze Metro Collection seems like a good Fall Collection, but again, there are some shades that don't appeal to me. I will say however, that for a larger Fall collection, they did a great job of hitting the mark on most of these shades. It has plenty of what I think makes up a good Fall selection--there's dark, smoky, pops of color, vampy, trendy, and a nice range of finishes.

I'm torn between Orly's collection and Zoya's collection for my favorite Fall set if I had to pick just one that represents the Fall season the best. Of course, that's just my opinion! Tell us your thoughts and what one collection you'd pick for your Fall favorite, based on what you've seen so far. Or maybe there's another collection that I didn't include that you like better.

On a side note, I did get my new computer up and running on the first try! Now I have to transfer all of the photos I had ready to post, load some software, and all of that other fun stuff!

  1. I really like the greens and greys in OPI's line. I was hoping Sally Hansen would have a fall line for their CSM lformula but haven't seen anything.

  4. I'm so bored with summer collections that I'm actually dying to grab any of fall beauties. Because beauties they are! I'm less excited for Essie, but rest of them totally fulfill my need of autumn shades. Hate all those bright and sunny colours :>

  8. Orly's Birds of a Feather looks so beautiful! I think as a collection overall, it's the front runner for me.

China Glaze's Metro Collection has some absolute must-haves for me though, specifically Skyscraper, Trendsetter, and CG in the City. Zoya has some beauties too - namely Yara and Neeka.

I think I'm going to pass completely on OPI, Color Club, and Essie. I might change my mind when I see the colors in person, but right now I'm feeling that's unlikely.

  9. Oh definitely Zoya. The others have some beautiful colors, but I like most of what Zoya put out as opposed to just a few from the other companies.

  10. I want all of Orly. I'm kinda surprized they are the only ones offering a flakie.

  11. My winner for sure is Zoya. Their fall collection is simply unbelievable, I usually expect a lot from Zoya, and they surpassed my expectations on this one. I want half of the collection, and that rarely happens. I think Orly will have a very strong one too. O.P.I. went a bit too safe IMO, i like a few colours, but nothing special. China Glaze disappointed me though, the same goes for Color Club. So yes, it will be Zoya and Orly for me this fall.

  14. Honestly, no one whole collection calls to me. I'd like to create my own fall collection by picking one or two from each collection. I'd pick Orly's Fowl Play; Zoya's Neeka, Petra, and Cynthia; China Glaze's Skyscraper, Traffic Jam, Urban Night, and Concrete Catwalk; and none from OPI, Color Club, or Essie.

Actually, the fall collection I'm most looking forward to is Cult Nails Hypnotic (minus the olive green shade).

  15. At first I didn't like OPI Fall Collection that much, I was a bit disappointed with all the excessive darkness on it but I'm kinda like accepting it now :P But my favourite Fall Collection is Color Club first and China Glaze right next. There is just one thing that is boring me about those: Fall Collections shouldn't have so many shades, at least not in my opinion.

  16. No hesitation here at all from me - it's Zoya's Smoke & Mirrors. I cannot recall a 12 bottle collection release that I loved them all. This is just a huge hit of the season/year for me (and I really liked Zoya's summer X2 collection releases as well.

  28. I'll have to go with Zoya, and China Glaze as a runner up- though Orly is where I'll get my Fall 'orange' fix...
And if your new computer is up and running on the first try, that sounds suspiciously like an Apple! (and no matter what type, I'm glad it was easy!)

  29. I'll say - first Orly, close second: Zoya, then China Glaze, then OPI then Essie then Color Club.

I answered your question in a post, which gives me the opportunity to link you my brand new blog. Brand new as in "crappy pics" (new camera) and messy posts, but hopefully this won't last!!
