In The Mood Spring Mood Polishes

In the Mood is introducing 3 new shades to their color-changing nail polish line for Spring. From the press release: In the Mood nail polishes change color based on your body temperature, your mood, the heat (or chill, depending on which way you lean!) of your morning coffee! And they will continue changing back and forth as long as you wear them. Chilly walk to work? Warm subway ride? Frigid trip through the dairy aisle? Stress-induced hot flashes? Amuse yourself by guessing what shade your delightfully bi-polar nail polish will be at any given moment!

Below: All of these shades have a nice formula that's easy to work with and opaque in 2 coats. The finish reminds me very much of OPI's Suede or Zoya's Matte Velvet polishes. They have a more satin than matte finish, and they are shimmers.

Above: Guilty is a blurple shade that photographed a little more blue that it is in reality. It changes to a bright turquoise shade with warmer temperatures. All of these have a mid-range of color that's not shown, but when wearing them each for a day, I definitely noticed additional hues that were in between the colors I'm showing you.

Above: Ditsy is the only one that I photographed with a clear top coat because I wanted to see if the color change would be effected with a top coat. The In the Mood web site states that top coats can be used, and I didn't notice any negative effects from it. This shade is a bright berry or fuchsia tone with hidden shimmer, and it changes to a bubble gum pink shade when warmed up. Disty has much more of a creme finish that the other two shades.

Below: Naughty is a juicy orange shade that converts to a medium yellow tone. This one may work better using 3 coats because while it looks fine when orange, the yellow shows some lighter areas. The shimmer on this shade is more like the shimmer on Guilty.

Below: Macro color comparisons.

My nails aren't long enough to tell if the tips would remain one color while the bed of the nail changes, but it would stand to reason that this polish could have that ability. I always enjoy mood polishes for the fun factor! They change color instantly under warm or cold water, and I noticed them changing all day long depending on what I was doing and where I was temperature-wise. I didn't experience them changing with my mood necessarily, but then again, any polish would have trouble changing as much as my moods do!

In the Mood offers six additional color-changing polishes and they're available on their site for $8.00 each.
