My First Butter London Polishes!

Every now and again, I realize that I have no polishes from a seemingly popular brand, and Butter London was one of those brands. There's no reason why I didn't have any shades from this line, so when they recently released their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, I thought it was a good excuse to invest in a few of them!

Above & Below: The Spring/Summer 2011 Collection consists of 5 shades, and these were my choices L-R: Lady Muck, Dosh, and Hen Party.

Below: These retail for $14.00, and the shipping was extremely fast. I love how they come packaged with the Butter London Seal.

Below: I didn't realize that the bottles were rectangular rather than square, but I like the shape. They'll fit nicely in my storage drawers, and the instructional graphic is too cute!

Below: Lady Muck is similar in the bottle to China Glaze Sea Spray, but the shimmer in LM is more pronounced.

So who else is like me in not having any Butter London in their stash? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this line if you do have some, and let us know some of your favorites!

  1. Oh, I can't wait to see swatches! I didn't think I'd like these in the promo pics, but I think my wallet needs to be concerned...

  2. I didn't have any either until last month, I order All Hail The Queen from Nordies. LOVED it! I, too, was surprised by the bottle!

  4. I just got my first BL at the end of December when I happened upon a BL salon in the Seattle airport when I was connected there. I got Marrow, All Hail the Queen, Victoriana, and Henley Regatta.

  5. I really like the Butter London polishes I have. Nice formula and nice colors. Victoriana is a gorgeous dusty blue and Bumster is a great mustard yellow. I can't wait to see a swatch of Dosh - green!!

  13. I´ve got Stroppy, but I don´t like it. I thought I would, but it is so sheer that I can only use it to layer. That´s not always a bad thing, but in this case it is imo.

  14. I don't own any. I almost got one on clearance at ULTA months ago, but I passed on it and never saw them again. :(

  16. I just found your blog by looking for Lady Muck in google. I looked into the BL website and apparently they don't have it anymore!!!!! You are lucky, I want it sooo bad. I love BL polishes, I only have "all hail mcqueen" and "victoriana" and I love both.

  18. I don't own any yet, but I am tempted by the bottle pic of that green.

  19. It took a while for me to try Butter London too. I had always heard their formula was not the greatest, but when they released the Fall 2010 collection, I had to get Victoriana and Marrow, both colors that I absolutely love! In addition to those I also have All Hail McQueen, Stroppy (a wonderful jelly for gradients) and British Racing Green. The formula is so good that I don't ever need to do any cleanup!

  20. I don't have any button London...I can't afford it, LOL.
But if I do well this semester in school and there's a sale, I'd like to treat myself to Victoriana, All Hail McQueen (The Queen?), British Racing Green and Big Smoke.

  23. I don't have it, I also hear all the time how overrated and overpriced they are, so I'm not really wanting them either. People say application is awful, so I can't wait for your review!

  24. I love the look of Lady Muck. I don't have any Butter London polishes, but might have to get some since zappos.com carries them and offers free shipping.

  25. EVB911~I've been wasnting to try these, and just by the bottles, I'm not disappointed. I just pre-ordered the No More Waitie, Katie one!

BlushingNoir~glad to hear you like them! I love the "flat" bottles :)

OnceBitten~I like the majority of positive responses to the brand! Helps me justify my purchase~ha-ha!

KarenD~I've not seen these in person anywhere (thankfully, then I'd probably buy more!). I love some of the names of them too.

KrisinPhilly~I'm always a sucker for greens, so I had to get that one!

Allie Bunni~I love that shade too, so soft and subtle.

LadyLuck27~those were the two shades that really caught my eye from the new collection.

Rachel Marie~they are a little expensive. That may be one of the subconcious reasons I've not tried them before :)

necessary nails~good to hear you like yours too! Part of me hopes I don't like them so I won't buy more, but that's probably doubtful :)

jaljen~good to hear the formula is well liked for the most part. I've heard they didn't have such a great formula a few years back, but it seems like it's been improved upon.

Deborah~this brand has been on my list to try for quite a while, so I'm glad I took the plunge!

peripatetic33~we love our greens! I read recently where they have an olive gold one coming out in the Fall. The picture I saw looked gorgeous.

Miranda~I'll have to look up a pic of that one, and possibly avoid getting it in the future :)

kittypolishnbags~ooh, didn't know Ulta carried these...or maybe they don't anymore?

tasha~they definitely look close, not dupes, but close.

Lucia~huh, it must have sold out quickly? Glad I was able to get it too!

Nina Patricia~I bought mine from their site, butterlondon.com. In reading some of the comments, it soubnds like other places, Nordstrom, Zappos, possibly Ulta carry them also. I think I saw a store/salon locator on their site also.

Terni~that one is probably what made me decide it was time to order this brand!

fairieberry~good to hear! I'd heard some not so good things about their formula also, but that was a few years back.

ChaosButterfly~yes, treat yourself! Maybe they go on sale sometimes? Not sure, but that would be nice.

Jackie S.~it does! I'll try to swatch them today (finally!).

sabrina~I tried to limit myself! As long as I was paying shipping though, I thought I should get more than one.

Fruity Lashes~they make some pretty shades. Can't wait to try them.

Ulmiel~I'm anxious to try them too and I hope the formula is as good as I'm hearing.

whateveramber~good to know that Zappos carries them too!

  26. I want Lady Muck so badly but you just pointed out that its just like Sea Spray... and I hadn't even thought about getting Sea Spray! Weird! Well now I'll go for the cheaper one! :)

Any luck with your light tent softbox thingy? I've tried using the one I got a couple of weeks ago a few times and it washes out the color so much... I need to play with pushing the exposure or something.

  27. shimmerspark~so sorry for the late replay, I just saw your comment! It's similar to Sea Spray, I did compare them a couple of days later on the nail if you haven't seen that post. And yes, I did receive the lightbox just a couple of days after ordering. It's still in the box, so I really need to unpack it and check it out. Hopefully it will work, I'll be sure to post my thoughts about it. I've never played with settings on my camera, although that would probably be a good idea :)
