Cult Nails in My Kind of Cool Aid

I am so excited to share my first (and their first!) Cult Nails polish in My Kind of Cool Aid with you today! Cult Nails is the vision-turned-reality by my fellow blogger Maria, the owner of the blog R3 Daily. If you follow Maria's blog, you know that she launched her own company several months ago, and after countless hours of hard work, her dream has become a reality with the release of her first polish. When she mentioned on Twitter a few nights ago that My Kind of Cool Aid was available, I didn't waste any time ordering one! The shipping was fast--I ordered it Tuesday night and received it today. The postage was a very reasonable $3.00, and she accepts PayPal. Let's take a look!

Below: Cult Nails is working hard to become a green company, and their packaging is recyclable. They cushion their products with cotton balls--environmentally friendly, and very useful! The polish itself is B3-Free, a well as being free of Phthalate and Camphor.

Below: My polish was accompanied by a nice welcoming note with Maria's cute trademark logo.

Below: I asked Maria to autograph my bottle because when (not if, but when) she becomes a world-famous polish creator, I can say that I knew her before fame and fortune came her way!

Below: Each bottle is clearly marked with all of the ingredients.

Below: Bottom of bottle/label.

Below: Macro shot of My Kind of Cool Aid.

Below: My Kind of Cool Aid is a greyed-out lavender shade with hidden or secret shimmer. I notice primarily a pale aqua/green shimmer, and there is also a very light sprinkling of pink shimmer. Cult Nails describes this shade as a purple/gray creme polish with a delicate shimmer. The photos below show what this shade looks like in brighter lighting (Ott lamp on the first two and flash on the last one), and as you can see, it leans more toward the lavender side.

Below: In lower lighting with no flash, this shade leans more toward the grey spectrum. As I was wearing it around the house in various lighting, it changes its appearance depending on the lighting.

I am so happy with this shade--is it grey? Lavender? It's Gravender! Whatever you call it, it's stunning and unique. The formula was extremely nice because it's a touch on the thick side which allows for opaque coverage in 2 coats, but not so thick that in causes any problems during the application or drying time. It's a self-leveling formula and before I can even touch up an area, it's already leveled itself out for a smooth and even finish.

Maria will be introducing more colors, and if you take a look at her web site here, you can read more about her company and her future plans. The next polish to make its debut is likely one called Living Water, which you can view here. That shade, if I recall correctly, was inspired by one of her readers when Maria put the call out to help her design a shade. I'll be checking her site frequently to see when that one is available, because it too is gorgeous.

I think I speak for many other bloggers and readers of Maria's blog when I say Congratulations, Maria! I know you to be a perfectionist, so I had no doubt that you would see this through and end up with a top quality product. You and your family have poured your hearts and souls into making this company come to life, and I wish you much success and happiness!

  9. Thank you for the review! I am so glad that you like it! I am so anxious to see what everyone thinks! My daughter wore it to school the other day and a boy commented that her polish was cool because it was grey and purple. A 13 year old boy noticed! Now that is cool! ha!
