Perplex is a very deep, very smoky lavenderish/purplish (huh, now why wouldn't spell check recognize those words?!) shade with hidden shimmer. Depending on the lighting, it looks more purple at times, or more of a dusty dark lavender with hints of charcoal. Because I'm a freak about colors, it's always interesting to me to study the cotton ball after removing a polish. With Perplex, the only color on the cotton ball is a flat, muddy charcoal shade.
The formula on this shade was very good, and from what I've seen, it is definitely a very, very close dupe to Chanel Paradoxal at a fraction of the cost. Subtle shimmer, smokiness, dustiness, purples, charcoals, quick and easy application with 2 coats--if you haven't picked this one up yet, it's definitely one you need!
