Come Grow Old With Me, The Best Is Yet To Be, are encouraging and often true words from Robert Browning. Growing old definitely has had its advantages for me...more financial stability, gaining confidence along the way and now having the ability--or in my case, the strong desire--to say no more often, not caring what other people think about me, and a sense of happiness and satisfaction that seems to grow with each passing year. I'm not quite to the point of receiving the Senior discount, but you can be sure I'll take advantage of that!
Aging is something we all face and while it can be a good thing in some respects, there are aspects of it that I want no part of. Health-wise, we do what we can to ward off illness, even though from what I see of certain diseases, the end result of our efforts is little more than a crap shoot. When it comes to beauty products to reverse the effects of aging, or to just make my skin look as good as it possibly can, I'll never stop looking for the next best thing. Cosmetic surgery isn't my thing, so I resort to whatever I can product-wise to achieve this. Beauty or how we perceive our appearance is a source of confidence, (confidence I've gained, not sure about the beauty part!), so I'm always happy to find products that will keep me from turning into a wrinkled hag any sooner that I have to!
While I don't have quite the arsenal of skin care products when compared to my nail polish or cosmetics collection, I have tried many different products looking for "the one." With Reviva Labs, I have found an enormous range of products that target different areas and so far, I haven't found one that didn't do what it claimed. This brand focuses on natural ingredients, which has always been important to me, especially in skin care. I've just about finished using the contents of both of the products I'm reviewing today and I will be ordering more. I'm also going to check out some of their products that are targeted for around the eye area, once I narrow them down. I've mentioned it before, but their website is filled with information about skin care and product options for specific problems with your skin. There are complete ingredient lists with each product, which I think is extremely helpful.
Soy Rejuvenating Serum: I apply a small amount (2 pumps) of this thin serum on cleansed skin before applying a moisturizer. I'm also starting to pay much more attention to the skin on my throat and neck, so I use the same products in that area as I use on my face. Originally promoted for menopausal skin, this product has been used by many younger people with good results. The purpose of the Soy Serum is to improve skin's texture and to tone/firm the skin. Studies have shown that it reduces facial wrinkles and increases skin's elasticity 27% after 6 weeks of use twice a day. I do use this twice a day and have noticed an improvement in all of the areas that it claims to work on, particularly around my eyes and upper lip. The soy ingredient gives the product an estrogen-like effect, and estrogen (which is essential for normal skin thickness, texture and tone) is a primary hormone that depletes as we age. This product retails for $35.00 for a 1 oz. pump-style glass bottle and is available on their website, as well as in leading health food stores and Ulta.
Alpha Lipoic Acid, DMAE, and Vitamin C Ester Cream: This product is my moisturizer both day and night. It's marketed as a night cream, but I was so impressed with how my skin looked when I woke up after using it before I went to bed, I now use it in the morning over the Soy Serum as well. This is a fairly quick absorbing medium textured cream that has some very effective anti-aging ingredients, particularly Alpha Lipoic Acid. It softens, smooths and firms my skin and gives it a more radiant look than when I don't use it. I also apply this to my throat and neck area, and have been just as happy with the results when I use it on my hands nightly. I see that they offer a Hand & Body Lotion in this line is a larger bottle, so I'll be ordering that so I can reserve the night cream for the areas it was intended for. The Alpha Lipoic Night Cream comes in a 2 oz. jar and retails for $23.00.
I do a vast amount of reading on subjects that interest me, and obviously beauty products are one of those subjects. Reviva Labs has furnished me with quite a bit of much-appreciated reading material on skin care in general and their products. I'm going out on a limb here because I don't know if they offer this material on a regular basis, but I'd be willing to say that if you're interested in this company and their products, contact them and ask for some literature and I'm quite certain they'd be happy to send some your way.
