Sally Hansen Purple Gala vs. Hard Candy Mr. Wrong

There was a comment left yesterday on my Sally Hansen XTreme Wears Part I that Purple Gala was a dupe of Hard Candy Mr Wrong. After comparing them bottle to bottle and agreeing that they were very similar, I wanted to try them on the nail to see how they compared.

Above: L-R Index and ring fingers are wearing Hard Candy Mr. Wrong, middle and pinkie are wearing Sally Hansen Purple Gala.

Below: Coverage after the first coat shows that the Sally Hansen (middle and pinkie fingers) is more opaque.

These two shades are definitely similar, and the only real differences are that I needed 3 coats of Mr. Wrong to get the same coverage that 2 coats of Purple Gala gave me, and the colors are slightly different, but still very close. Mr Wrong looks more grey, while Purple Gala looks more purple. The evidence was on the cotton ball during removal, with Mr. Wrong having a more blue tint and Purple Gala having a more purple tint. Thank you to the reader for leaving the comment--you had me curious about them after I read it!

  1. I love Mr. Wrong enough to want to own both, even if they are similar. SH is a better version, price wise though, right?

  4. Since I don't go to Walmart I won't be buying this. I do love the Sally Hansen. Thanks for the comparison. They look too much alike for me to buy both.

  6. They are pretty similar though so I don't think some one would have to have both in their collection
