Come Monday...weekly newsletter

Today is officially the end of Summer, and while we haven't had the most ideal weather this year, I will miss much of what Summer brings. I look forward to Fall though, with the cooler weather, the dramatic and colorful changing of the landscape, the scent of leaves burning, the Fall fashions, and of course breaking out some true Fall nail polish shades!

One thing I love about Fall here in Southwest Michigan, is the scent of grapes in the air as they ripen on the vine. You don't normally think of Michigan when you think of wine country, but we're actually one of the top producing states in that industry. There are many wineries scattered throughout the countryside near our city that produce award winning wines. My sister brought me a bottle of Ice Wine when she was visiting last week, and while the bottles only yield 1 2/3 cup of this delicious nectar and start at around $40.00 a bottle, it is nirvana for the taste buds. Ice Wine is produced by picking the grapes after they've frozen in the first frost, then pressing them and producing them into wine immediately after the harvest. I'm guessing the price is so high because they're such a limited crop. Not something you'd want to get addicted to at that price tag!

Below: Dairy Queen's Blizzard of the month is Brownie Batter. When I saw the ad and noticed the reference to B3 (as in Big 3 Free) and GR8 (China Glaze GR8), I felt that I owed it to you, my readers, to give it a try and report back to you! Now that's as good of an excuse as any, don't you agree? I can tell you that it's definitely worth checking out. All right, enough of the food talk, let's move on to Nail News.

In the world of nail polish, I have lots to catch up on with you this week on my blog. My darling daughter goes back to school tomorrow, so I'll have more time to spend swatching--something I've been very short on this last month. I've got some of the new BB Couture Infamous Lovers to show you, MAC's Fall Collection, some shades from Barielle's Fall Collection, and the rest of Maybelline's Fashion Week 2010 Collection. Here's hoping for a productive week so I can get all of that accomplished!

I've got a few things coming in the mail that I'm excited about--some minerals to mix up some more Frankens, which is something I do quite a bit of and never seem to share them with you. I've recently produced quite a few that are finally worthy of featuring on my blog, so I'll be doing more of that in the near future. I've also decided to try out the soak off gel craze that seems to be gaining momentum by the day. CND's Shellac often comes to mind when we think of these products, but after doing a little research and getting some advice, I've decided to go with Gelish by Harmony. I always enjoy learning something new, and I'm dying in anticipation of checking this process out. Let's hope my excitement isn't quashed by my inability to apply it correctly!

Lastly, the winner in the Infamous Lovers giveaway so kindly sponsored by Kim at Overall beauty is CupcakeQueen22! Congratulations, and I hope you enjoy your polishes. As always, many thanks to Kim for her generosity and friendship. I hope you all have a wonderful week!

  3. Congrats to cupcake queen22!

Also, I totally love Ice wine, and I agree, it is a little expensive to get addicted to!

I drink Moscato to easy my ice wine desires :)

  4. That wine sounds very good. Expensive but must be worth it. Never have had a blizzard. That's the only blizzard I would like! Yummy. Hope your daughter has a wonderful school year. I don't think you've ever shared a franken. I'd love to seem them. Can't wait to see all the Fall collections.
