China Glaze Channelesque Returns?

I have a comparison for you today of the much coveted and discontinued China Glaze Channelesque vs. China Glaze Below Deck, one of the shades included in the China Glaze Anchors Away Spring 2011 Collection. The photo of the color wheel I'd originally posted showed Below Deck looking rather dark, and I took a few photos without a flash and it did look very dark, much like the photo Yen sent over originally. But now that I have the wheel to do an actual comparison, it does indeed look very Channelesque-y.

Above: The swatch next to the bottle looks every so slightly darker, but I would say it's 99% close to the original Channelesque.

Below: A look at Channelesque by itself using 2 coats, outdoors in natural lighting.

Below: Here are a variety of photos comparing the two shades in a range of different lighting.

There you have it! Keep in mind that the very subtle difference could be attributed to a couple of things--I don't know how many coats Yen used on the nail wheel she sent me. I used 2 on myself, so if she used 3, that could make a slight difference. Also, each swatch is painted on a different type of surface, one being plastic, the other being my nail. For all intents and purposes, I'd call them dupes. Now if we could just get some other well-loved discontinued shades re-issued, we'd all be happy!

  2. I don't understand the love for Channelesque but I think it's awesome if they make an exact dupe. I know lots of people are lemming it!

  3. jaljen~yep, it's still out there, just a little hard to find sometimes. Agree, it is great!

Mighty Lambchop~I love it personally, but it is different :) I know a lot of people would like to have it more readily available and at a reasonable price, so I think this is a good thing too.

  11. dupe dupe dupe!!! yay!!!

well i'm saying it's a dupe based on your photos..my nail polish color identification is not as sharp as others....so it's a dupe to me.

I will get it...crossing my fingers it matches with my skin tone

  13. I have both. I think for most it's a dupe. But when looking at them on one nail next to another on myself, I can see that Channelesque is just a tish lighter than is Below Deck. But from even the distance of 1=2 ft away it's just impossible to tell the difference unless you have them both on the same hand and happen to twist you hand into just the right light. I think CG was nuts to every take Channelesque off their books. It belongs in their classic collection. Maybe it was an issue with rights over the semi use of the name/color that only let CG run it a short time?
