China Glaze Vintage Vixen: Riveter Rogue & Classic Camel

Above & Below: Riveter Rogue, a darker shade of red, is packed full of red and silver micro glitter. This one is perfect for the holiday season, or any time you want to add a little pizazz to your manicure. It glistens more than it sparkles, if that makes any sense!
Below: Classic Camel is one of the first shades in this collection that appealed to me, but I just don't think it works with my skin tone. It's an imitation gold cream with tons of gold glitter, but on me, it reminds me of Dijon mustard. I really wanted this one to work for me, and I've seen it work nicely on others.

I'm not giving up on Classic Camel, because I do like this, just not on me. I'll try it again when I have more of a tan and see what happens. It was interesting when I removed it, because on the cotton ball, it looked like a pure gold foil, which tells me there's more gold glitter in there than meets the eye. Riveter Rogue is probably similar to others I have, but I still love it. As I mentioned above, I love how it glistens rather than sparkles. As with the others I've tried so far from this collection, I used 2 coats and had no problems with the applications.
We're getting ready to head downtown to the Arts District and visit one of my daughter's teachers who has a sculpting studio there. He also does Henna, so I may have him do something on me. I'll be sure to take my camera and hopefully have some interesting photos to share with you in my Come Monday post next week. Wishing you all a great weekend!

  1. These, with Ingrid, are the only ones from this collection I'd consider. I'm very interested in Camel. I'm wearing Misa Hot Couture today for the first time and I love it so Camel would be good to have.

  2. Camel does look like Dijon mustard! I really haven't seen anyone that I like it on. It's a bizarre shade to me. I have to order it. I like Riveter Rouge. It's really gorgeous.

  4. I don't know why but I am really interested in Riveter Rouge, even though it's red and well, guys are not supposed to wear red nail polish. However, guys normally aren't suppose to wear Any nail polish so what does it matter, LOL.

Camel is a unique color and it does look like Dijon Mustard, LOL but still it looks sensational on your nails. Your nails are always gorgoeus and I think you may be too hard on yourself, (the same way I am with red/pinkish tone polish colors, who says I can't wear them on my toes, if I don't mind, who cares what others may think right, LOL)I am really loving your web blog Mary, have a fantastic weekend.

Question: Does anyone know what color and/or manufacturer of the gorgeous nail polish Rachel Zoe and Taylor wear on the Bravo Reality Show, "The Rachel Zoe Project?" Just curious.

    Nameste.

  7. I realllly want both of these. I don't think Classic Camel will work with my skin at all, but I still love it. How crazy is that? :)

  8. I bought Classic Camel yesterday. It totally reminds me of cornmeal mix! I love it anyway & will find a way to make it work!

  9. Since so many China Glaze polishes seem to do well as Konad colors, why not try Classic Camel as a nail-stamping color over a dark color and see if that works? (That's what I'll be trying...)

  10. Classic Camel is such an amazing color but I have the feeling it won't look well on my skin tone... love it though ;-)
