China Glaze In The Mood-Color Changing (slightly!) Polish

I say slightly in my post title, because while the old China Glaze In the Mood Color Changing polishes may not all be as chameleon-like as other brands, they're still fun to have as a collector. I don't know when these were originally released, but I do know that there were almost 50 different shades, and many of them are more dramatic in their changing ability than this particular one.

Above & Below: These are activated by body temperature, but the only way I've ever been able to get it to change color is by running my hands under cold water. That kind of takes some of the fun out of it though! If you're wondering why my hand is all wet, that's why. The name of this is simply Pink to Silver, and it's a very pale pink creme with tiny silver glitter. As you can see on my pinkie and ring fingers below, it turns more white than silver, but it's very subtle.
When we moved into our house 3 years ago, I stashed some boxes in the basement that were filled with items I don't use too much, like old china, books, and that sort of thing. I just knew I had some old polishes that I haven't been able to find, and I decided to take a quick look in those boxes yesterday. I did find 8 polishes stashed inside of a smaller box, and some of those were the China Glaze In the Mood polishes. I know there's more somewhere, so I'll have to keep looking. Do you have any of these in your collection? An old roommate of mine from college sent me some of these years ago, but if you know when they were released, I'd like to know!

  1. I love it when you show us old polishes!

  2. Ohh, nice! I've never been able to get my hands on these although I have heard of them. This is a pretty one!

  3. Very pretty. I did find a few of these at a nail supply store.

    Sea green to light blue
    purple to light blue
Glitter day glow rust to yellow
    Hot pink to light pink
    Bronze to gold

  4. I've never heard nor seen these. How exciting for you to find them. Darn I wished I had my old stash of polishes. I'll be very interested to see all of these polishes. I get excited at finding older drugstore polishes at the Dollar Store! Linda came home with three Sally Hansen Hard As Nails, Hard As Wraps. I've never seen these. You got me started buying the drugstore polishes. Shame, shame on you! Now I have more places to get polish.

  5. Oooh! I would love to get my hands on a bottle! I really like how it looks like it's white when it's actually light pink. Plus, I've been reading reviews about the Claires Mood Changing nail polishes too and they look gorgeous!

I hope you can find some more!

  6. More polishes to add to my wish list ;)

  7. These are really cool! I had no idea they even existed. Something else to hunt for. lol! :-)

By the way, I started a nail blog, and would love to have you follow. If you're interested. :-)

  8. Neat! I certainly do hope you find more of these 'in the mood' CG polishes :P

  9. Oooh. I like this! Not much of a change... but it is still really pretty. Your nails look gorgeous, by the way. :)

  10. Ohh, nice! I've never been able to get my hands on these although I have heard of them. This is a pretty one
