Jessica Electric Summer 2010 Collection Review

Jessica Cosmetics has 2 new collections for summer, Electric and Ignite. I reviewed the Ignite collection last week and you can view that here. Today I have the Electric collection for you.

Above: Indigo Glow is the only shimmer in this 6 piece collection and it certainly does glow! This looked like a frost or a metallic in the bottle, and although it does have some of those elements, it covered nicely in 2 coats without the streaking often found in those finish types. It also has a bit of a foil-like finish.
Below: 3D Tangerine is a medium toned orange with the slightest hint of an orange coral to it. This creme formula covered perfectly in 2 coats.
Below: Power Driven Pink is a 'Barbie' pink, for lack of a better term. I was surprised at how well this covered on the first coat--no streaking, which for a pale pink creme is a little unusual.
Below: Hi Res Raspberry is a fuchsia or raspberry creme, but in real life, it reminds me more of a watermelon shade of pinkish red.
Below: Shock Me Red, a warm toned orange red shade, was actually opaque in just one coat. I did however, use 2 coats in the photo. This could also be classified as a bright red coral shade.
Below: Viva La Lime Lights was the only photo I took outdoors in order to get away from the lobster hand look that so many of these pastel greens seem to bring out. This is a pistachio green shade, more yellow and less blue than a mint, and a near dupe of OPI's Gargantuan Green Grape as you can see in the bottle comparison photo.
Below: Bottle comparison with China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint and OPI Gargantuan Green Grape.
The press release from Jessica says: "Electric presents six new bright hues that add bold femininity and allure to your style. With shades of shocking pinks, berries and greens, the new collection helps any woman get in tune with her electric side." I'm not sure if I have an electric side, but I do like these shades! The more I use this brand, the more I love the formula. All of the finishes have little to no streaking, and they all seem to cover exceptionally well using 2 coats. The high-gloss shine and long-wearing formula make it possible to completely skip using a top coat. These retail for $7.50 on their site, and with drug store polishes like Sally Hansen being priced in that same range, and OPI pulling out from eTailers, this brand is well worth the price.

  1. Loving Viva La Lime Lights! With the formula as you described though I would prefer this over OPI GGG.
