Essie Sassy Satchel & Essie Carnival

Today I have some of my finer quality polishes...you know I love some of the drugstore shades I've been showing the last few days, but it's always a pleasure when I use Essie. I've always been very impressed with the application and the quality of the finish I get from this brand. I used 2 coats of Sassy Satchel and the coverage was even and the formula flowed perfectly. I picked this up at TJ Maxx a few months back, and I'm glad I did. Sassy Satchel is in the burgundy family, but it has the slightest hint of a deep brick red with brown undertones. The brown undertones are more evident with a coat of Essie's Matte About You.
Carnival is a perfect topping for a darker base, because it's a clear polish packed full of small, holographic glitter. I used one coat as a topping, and the way that the glitter pieces play with the light is truly mesmerizing. I don't think it would look nearly as nice using it alone, but I could be wrong. Have you ever used Carnival alone? What did you think?
I love Carnival, I didn't know this polish. The final mani looks great but curiously, the shimmer of Sassy Satchel seems to disappear completely.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteI need to get my hands on Essie's Matte about you! Beautiful!
very pretty and it looks awesome matte.
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty! I actually don't care for the matte (Gasp! Me??) because Carnival is so snazzy.
ReplyDeleteLovely shade of burgundy, and it really comes alive with Carnival on top! Personally, I can't seem to get used to (read "like") the matte trend, not a fan at all... from what I've read it will continue to be "a la mode" the upcoming Spring - so I guess I will just have to try and accept it, lol!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Mary, I hope you and your family will have a good one!
Your nails look lovely with this polish!
ReplyDeleteLove that shade on you. I've just added that to my "wants" list! Beautiful burgundy shade. I don't care for it matted. Love the glitter on top. I can't get enough red polish right now. Everyone have a wonderful Christmas. Mary, you and your family have a Merry Christmas. Love ya.
ReplyDeleteHow much did you pay for Essie Sassy Satchel at TJMaxx?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous combos Mary!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous color! Is it a sin to think that it looks best all by itself?
ReplyDeleteWoah, I didn't even know Essie had a polish like Carnival. I love it! A lot of people arent big on Essie but I love it and Carnival makes me like Eddie even more. I can always find a random Essie at my TJ Maxx so thats a bonus.
ReplyDeleteThey all look amazing :)
ReplyDeleteNathalie~Carnival was a surprise to me, I didn't know Essie had a color like this! And yes, the matte totally erased the shimmer!
ReplyDeleteGina~yes you do! Matte About You is used alot by me :)
Brooke~glad you like the looks! I was surprised in a good way at Carnival!
Mighty Lambchop~I understand what you mean about the matte, because Carnival look nice unmatted,
Vanessa~belated thanks for the Hoiday wishes! The matte look is just something different, but it's so fun to see what the end result will be every time I use it :)
AllYouDesire~thank you!
Lucy~I hope you had a wonderful Holiday! I preferred this one unmatted too, because it was such a pretty shade.
Kelsey~I think they're around $3.99...no more than that.
itskarmababy~thanks! You just never know how it will look after all of the 'toppings'!
gildedangel~not at all! I totally agree with you.
adorepink~I know, I was totally wowed when I saw this polish. My TJ MAXX is hit or miss, so I was happy to find something good for a change!
Pinkginger~thanks, I prefer the first look, but once you start playing around...!
Please take this to be constructive, but you really need to have someone take a look at your nail shape. Maybe have them done by a friend or professionally once to see what they do. What you're doing isn't flattering at all.
