OPI Holiday Wishes: Ginger Bells

Above: OPI Ginger Bells shown with 2 coats, indoors with a flash.
Below: I added a coat of OPI's Glitter Bit of Music to it, but I'm afraid nothing will help!

Here's another from the OPI Holiday Wishes Collection, but I'm kind of wishing this had not been included! Hmmm, what to say about this one...I'm sure had I not wanted to have the entire set, this is not a shade I would have purchased on it's own. The official description says "A yummy shade of gingerbread." If it were a cookie, I'd have to agree, and maybe it's just me, but I'm not loving this. Who am I kidding? I'm not even close to liking this one. On the plus side, it did cover very nicely in 2 coats. I added a coat of OPI's Glitter Bit of Music as a top coat, but I'm afraid nothing is going to make me like this one. I toyed with putting a matte top coat on it, but the descriptive words that came to mind for what that might have looked like, weren't very pleasant. Oh well, with 12 colors in this collection, there was bound to be at least one that disappointed me. What do you think? Any positive reactions to this shade?

  1. That stinks when polishes aren't what you want them to be! Hope you have a good weekend Mary :)

  2. I didn't like this one either. It looks nice on you,but it reminds me too much of pumpkin puree. OPI should've added a green instead.

  3. Huuuum, not sure if I'm liking this one either. Certainly the top coat sparkle helps a little but not much. I do now still want some gingerbread!

  4. Pumpkin nails! I LOVE IT!!! I must admit ive already opened the online stores and am looking to buy both (or the closest match) as I feel that this could be my newest combination for fall!!!! Especially as my nails are long and witchy now!!

  5. I actually loved this one, because it's unique and thankfully not too orange for me. Definitely felt like I was taking a risk ordering it, though!

  6. I've seen this swatched a couple of times, and it's not doing it for me.

  7. I saw this one live when I ordered it for my friend, and as I already said on my blog, I think it is really ugly :( But maybe someone will like it :)

  8. This shade is my favourite from holiday collection. You love it or hate it nothing between.

  9. Thanks for the swatch... I think the glitter top coat definitely livened it up. I think I lot of people are comparing this shade to OPI Apple Pie haha. I'm all for all kinds of colors but I don't think I'll be ordering this one anytime soon...

  10. Thank you for posting this! I was wondering what the colour would look like.. I am preparing my order for sometime in November, and I was super pumped to order 'Ginger Bells' because it looks great in the bottle.

That is definitely a shade I cannot personally pull off :( - but again, thankies for posting it!!

  11. I think Ginger Bells will be in my order. I really love this shade. It's different from all the rest of the shades. I prefer it wihtout the gold topcoat. Sorry you don't like it.

  12. Brooke~I wasn't sure I'd like it when I saw pictures of it, and I was right. But I wanted the full collection, so that's okay.

Pinkginger~a green would have been fantastic, especially given that it's a holiday collection.

Elize~it's different, that's for sure! It's too orange for a cross between ginger and pumpkin!

Tali~I'm glad you like it! It's different, but it may look better on you :)

Krisprimps~glad some of you like it, I just thought it was a little too orange for me.

Selina~I'm with you on that thought!

AllYouDesire~sounds like some do like it, and that's good. It's just not looking good to me!

Day~I totally agree, it seems like it's one or the other. Glad you like it though!

Kalmo~definitely reminded my of OPI and Apple Pie! Maybe if I wore it for a while, I'd like it.

Delaynee~I can't pull it off either. But I'm sure it looks nice on other people!

Lucy~it is different, just not my thing.
