Essie Pink Parka~Fall 2009

Above & Below: Essie's Pink Parka, a bright neon pink creme. Photos are outdoors with no flash. Some are in full sun, others in shade.

Below: Photos were taken indoors, with flash.

Summer is rapidly coming to an end in our area, so I wanted to use one of the brighter shades from Essie's Fall collection today. Pink Parka is a neon pink shade that dries to a satin finish. I wouldn't call it a flat or matte finish, but perhaps somewhat of an eggshell finish would be a more appropriate term. I used 2 coats in the photos and no top coat. This shade is bright...and I mean bright! I don't know how much use it will get from me during the winter months, but it's an unusual and fun shade to include in a Fall collection. Not that that's a bad thing at all. Who knows, it may be just what I need in the depths of Winter to remind me of the warmer months ahead.

Nice swatch! I ended up buying the four non-neons from this collection. It does seem bright for a Fall collection, huh? But good for Essie for thinking out of the box. :)

Wow this is bright! It's pretty but can't say that I would wear it in winter, there are so many great fall colours out there!

This may be my favorite nail polish color ever!

You can't have a blah day with that color on your fingertips. It's like an insurance policy on cheerfulness. The Zoya La Di Da collection initiated me into neon. I think I would wear this. Yes, I do.

krisprimps~definitely different having those 2 bright ones in the bunch!

Kitty~the taupe ones were the ones I really wanted, so yes, I bought all 6 shades.

Katie~I agree, it's not something I would normally wear in the colder months, but who knows!

Kae~I liked the finish too, I thought about top coating it, but I rather like it just the way it is.

Pinkginger~yes you do!

Nosaby~it's not just pink, it's blindingly pink!

Deanna G.~glad you like it! It's awfully bright, but that's alright sometimes :)

Diana~I enjoy a bright neon every now and then. It does give a sense of fun.

AllYouDesire~it will definitely catch someone's attention!

I'm not too thrilled with this one. I have some neons and I don't need another. I like the non-neon shades.

I think I will find the non neon shades more useful this fall.
But hey, I don't think I ever seen such a great photo of a neon polish before! It glows on my computer screen.
Great work Mary, I have a lot to learn from you.. :-)
