Product Review: Simply Organic & a Daily Giveaway!

***Today's Daily Giveaway will be for one Simply Organic Travel Kit just like the one pictured above and the ones included in the prize baskets. Leave your e-mail in a comment below or follow me on Twitter here and enter that way. Entries will be accepted until Noon tomorrow. Now, on to the review!***
Today I'll be reviewing some products from Simply Organic, which are all contained in the travel kit. This kit includes their Everyday Hair and Scalp Wash (shampoo), Everyday Hair and Scalp Rinse (conditioner), Everyday Moisturizing Body Wash, Everyday Moisturizing Body Lotion, Lip Balm and a travel-sized bar of Oatmeal Lavender soap. All of the products come in a cute little natural 100% cotton Eco-Bag. Simply Organic products contain Olive Leaf Extract and Co-Enzyme Q-10, among other natural ingredients, including pure essential oils. These are their 'secret' ingredients and if you do a little research on them, you'll find that they're both powerful products that aid in age-defying beauty. Here's what they have to say about these ingredients:
With double the antioxidants found in green tea, olive leaf extract (olea europa), is quickly becoming the "it" ingredient in natural, age defying beauty products. Exceptionally rich in antioxidants, olive leaf extract helps protect your skin from the damaging oxidation of cells that can cause your skin to age before its time. It also contains the nutrient, co-enzyme Q10 (or CoQ10), a vitamin-like compound found naturally in the body. This potent antioxidant has become a highly popular nutritional supplement in the U.S. because it is a critical player in some of the body's most important functions, including energy production and delivery of oxygen to your cells. To the benefit of your skin, CoQ10 helps protect and nourish cells and boosts collagen for increased firmness and suppleness.
I have been using these products for several days now and I'm very pleased with them. The shampoo and conditioner have left my hair fuller and more manageable, even in this wave of extreme humidity we've been experiencing. I'd been using Pureology products as my shampoo and conditioner, which are highly concentrated, so in neglecting to read the instructions on the Simply Organic products, I used a very small amount in the palm of my hand and it lathered up very well. I then read that you are supposed to use the 'amount of a silver dollar' in the palm of your hand. Oops! It worked fine with the small amount I used, so a little of this product goes a long way.
The body wash and soap left my skin feeling soft and moisturized, enough so that I almost didn't need to use the moisturizer. Both produced enough lather to my satisfaction, and with the exception of the soap which smells of lavender, these products all have a nice, clean scent that smalls slightly of citrus. Orange peel is one of the ingredients, so that would explain the scent. It's very light however, and didn't interfere with my perfume. The moisturizer applies nicely with no greasy feeling and absorbs quickly. The lip balm has been on my desk for a week and I use it many times during the day. It too has a bit of a citrus smell, but very little taste. Some lip balms seem to leave my lips feeling dryer after they wear off, but this one left my lips soft and smooth for hours with no feeling of dryness.
As I've mentioned during my reviews of several 'Organic & Natural' products this month, these lines are generally more expensive. I'm also finding however, that you need less product per use and the quality is excellent on everything I've been using. Simply Organic products are no exception. Their products are gentle, effective, have a light unobtrusive scent, and are made with safe, quality ingredients. The packaging is simple, yet attractive, and their customer service and shipping were excellent. Their products are sulphate and paraben-free, and although not an organic product by definition, they are considered a natural product line. Visit their website if you're interested in finding out more about them and the products they manufacture, and you can also follow them on Twitter by clicking here. Their products can also be found in fine spas, salons and upscale boutiques. They are based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and do offer International shipping unless you are in a country that has one of their distribution partners (they'll be happy to let you know that if you send them an e-mail). They guarantee their products 100% and they also offer FREE SHIPPING to the U.S. and Canada on all website purchases. There is normally a small free item available with any order, this month being their lip balm.

These look amazing. I've been looking for a new shampoo especially, once I started reading about the nasty chemicals in 'regular' shampoos, it made me want to switch.
