Product Review: Juice Beauty Skin Care

Today I'll be reviewing some basic skin care products from Juice Beauty. A little background about the company...started by 2 California women (Karen & Melissa) who are passionate about the organic lifestyle and who believe 'that a healthy, organic lifestyle not only applies to what we eat but also what we put on our faces and bodies.' Their products are made with an antioxidant-rich, 100% organic juice base, making their products among the highest organic content available in all skin care lines. This interested me because most products are water-based, and while there's nothing inherently wrong with water, I question how pure it can really be, and realize also that it's not exactly packed full of nutrients for our skin. In reading through some of their material, I came across this explanation regarding the value of their juice base:

"Some brands would like you to believe that all of their ingredients are organic. Unfortunately, they only use a few organic ingredients in a water base that makes up most of the product - making the organic content less than 5%. Instead of the typical water base that cannot be "organic or pesticide free," Juice Beauty created an antioxidant rich organic juice base which is much more nourishing for your skin. Science has now shown us that organic juice is up to 50% higher in nutrients than non-organic juice. We knew we were on to something big so we filed a patent for our uniquely effective organic juice base formulation. All Juice Beauty products (total content) contain up to 95% certified organic ingredients."
DID YOU KNOW? that Juice Beauty has the highest organic content in skincare? We use organic ingredients in a base of organic fruit juices, making our total organic content up to 95%.
DID YOU KNOW? that Juice Beauty offers optimum age-defying results? Our antioxidant technology combines alpha lipoic acid, coenzyme Q10, DMAE, peptides, fat soluble Vitamin C and essential fatty acids for optimum age-defying results.
DID YOU KNOW? that our skin absorbs up to 64% of what we place on it? So, what we feed our skin should be organic, healthy, nutritious, paraben-free and naturally toxin-free.
I was able to sample all of the products pictures above and I've been using them for almost a week now. My skin has a healthy glow, which I attribute to the juice base and the natural acids found within their products. I started my regimen this past Sunday, using the Green Apple Cleansing Gel (6 oz. $22.00). Their products have a light scent, somewhat undefinable, but nothing too strong or unpleasant. As I'm finding with many of the organic-based products, a little goes a long way. I'm used to a cleanser that has micro beads in it, so my first (stupid!) thought was 'hmmm, I wonder if this is really getting my face clean because I can't 'feel' it scrubbing." I needn't worry about that, because when I got out of the shower, I could immediately see how clean, fresh and glowing my skin appeared and felt. I then applied the Green Apple Peel for sensitive skin (2 oz. $39.00), which is an exfoliating peel. It is recommended that you use this product once a week, although the continued 'glowing' results I got from this made me want to use it everyday! But I will stick with the directions because I'm sure they know more about it than I do. It feels very cool and soothing on the skin and after rinsing the product off after the recommended '10 minutes', my skin felt very smooth and soft. Following the Green Apple peel, I applied the Oil-Free Moisturizer Lotion (2 oz. $28.00). The moisturizer is very light and absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving no feeling of any type of residue.
My thoughts on this line are that Juice Beauty makes some very impressive products and you can research the science behind their claims as to why these products work as well as they do. They're pure, natural, organic...everything we've been discussing this month during the 'Natural & Organic Beauty Month.' Their products contain no sulphates which I am finding agree with my skin very well. I normally wear a powder foundation and I have worn no facial makeup other than eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss all week because my skin looks 'that good.' I don't want to cover up the look of freshness and the glow that it has after using these products. I really am in awe at how smooth and 'young' my skin looks and feels. As I've stated previously, these organic based products are more expensive than drug store brands but in line price-wise with many department store counter skin care lines, and are also highly concentrated. Are they worth it? To me, yes they are. Not only are their ingredients better for my skin from a health perspective, but when my skin looks good, I feel the same way I do when my hair looks good, or the clothing ensemble I've put together looks good...more confident and a more positive attitude.

You can find Juice Beauty products (and a lot of useful information) on their website by clicking the link above. Sephora also carries this line and there is a store locator on Juice Beauty's website as well. There is also a 'What Products Are Best For Me' section on their website that helps you determine, you guessed it, which products are right for you! A special thanks to Tanya at Juice Beauty for providing their products to be included in the Body & Soul August Prize Baskets which you can see here.

  1. I love using natural products. I have a whole cabinet filled with Burts Bees facial care. It's interesting to read about the juice bases. Does the company print expiration dates on their products? I've noticed a trend with that in natural skin care.
