Transforming Polish~Dark Pleasures Rendez-Blue

Above & Below: The stunning transformation of Revlon Midnight Affair with 2 coats of Revlon Rendez-Blue, both from the Dark Pleasures collection. Various lighting, indoors and outdoors.
Below: Rendez-Blue on it's own, 3 coats. Pretty yes, but nothing special.
Below: Forgive me, I couldn't stop taking pictures of this beauty!

Below: Midnight Affair is very nice all by itself, 2 coats.

Yesterday I showed you Revlon Dark Pleasures in Talk Dirty and while I still had them out, I thought I'd show you a few more. Midnight Affair is a beautiful deep navy blue with shimmer and it only took 2 coats to be completely opaque. I really think this is a nice navy shimmer polish. I was going to clean it off and show you Rendez-Blue, a pale robin egg blue duo chrome that flashes pink and violet, but I recall the last time I wore it that it takes at least 4 coats before it looks decent, so I tried 2 coats over the Midnight affair and it completely transformed it into a shimmery violet-gold-absolutely beautiful-can't take my eyes of of it-stunning polish! When I put the first streak of color on, I could not believe the look. These pictures pale in comparison to just how lovely it really is. It makes me wonder how it would transform so many other shades of polish, or if I just got lucky with this combination.

I keep hearing the lyrics in my head to the old Frankie Valli song, 'Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You' every time I think about this polish combination:
♪♪♪ Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothing else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to speak. But if you feel like I feel, please let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you ♪♪♪

It's not like it's my husband or George Clooney, or a big diamond, or even one of Nixxy's MWCILTRMND. It's only a nail polish...but still, I think I'm in love (isn't that part of a song lyric too?).

  1. I like the dark color.. but the transforming one is nice.. but not for me. I like to see the shade on the bottle on the nails or i feel cheated!!

  2. soooooo pretty! I love these polish's,the blue is gorgeous. I agree about the layering, I think that Revlon Rendez-Blue would look pretty layered over an opaque stark white - to cut down on coats!

  3. Wow! Simply amazing! Two completely different looks! I do love how Midnight Affair looks on it's own. I love those navy blue polishes.

  4. I love it! I love Midnight Affair alone, but topped with Rendez-Blue is just awesome! Yes that song does ring a bell when I look at this combo!

  5. Good song to compare that gorgeous polish to! I love the layering you did. I bet that is even better in person. I love navy polish and I am always looking for a creme. I have a little bottle by Lippman which isn't made anymore. It is pretty though. Very pretty color on you and your nails are really growing fast! Nails and hair grow faster in the summer.

  6. It's amazing how different Midnight Affair looks after being topped with Rendez-Blue! Love both colours on you! Simply gorgeous! : )

  7. These polishes look awesome on their own, and worn together! What a great combination!

  8. I am so glad you posted this! It's been very inspiring to me. I was feeling a little down because I bruised the skin below my toenail on the toe next to my little toe. It doesn't hurt, but sadly I won't be able to wear light or bright colored polishes until it heals. I have no idea how long that will take! :(

Seeing your post made me run for my bottle of Lilac Lingerie. I layered it over a dark purple from Borghese. I did one coat of Lilac Lingerie, but I am going to add another tomorrow. It did make me feel better realizing I can use all my untried layering notes for pedis. :)

  9. Tali~the dark is possibly my favorite navy polish. I understand what you mean about wanting the finished product on you nails to look like the bottle :)

Deez~I'll have to try it over a lighter shade. You're right, it may look very pretty over white, it just wouldn't be so sheer.

Velvet~I was very surprised when I put it over the navy. It was a dramatic change.

Nessa~I loved the navy alone and the other one is just too sheer to love on it's own, so this worked out well.

Lucy~this layering experiment worked out very well! My nails do grow fast, that's why I'm never too upset when I have to cut them off.

    Olivia~thank you :)

Wan~glad you like them! They're great polishes and if you can find them, they're usually very inexpensive.

    Robyn~thanks :)

Valerie~I agree with you, they're very nice on their own in general, or layered :)

Diana~I hope your toe heals soon. And yes, in the meantime, you can play with layering. It's fun, some of the combinations you can come up with and the different looks.

  10. I'm a bit late to the party. In fact, everyone's probably already gone home, so I'm the lone drunkard staggering down the street singing "I love you baby...anf if it's quite alright...I need you baby".

    Gorgeous. What an amazing transformation.

  11. Really lovely colours, I especially like Midnight Affair. :)

  12. oh wow, this is really a stunning transformation! I was lucky enough to grab a bottly of Rendez-Blue in one of my netshopping hauls, so I'm definitely going to try layering it on top of a bunch of dark colors. Thanks for that great idea :o)

  13. Helen~you're so funny :) It is an awesome polish when used as a layering one.

    Clockwork~thank you :)

Alexlyndra~glad you like them! They're really all very nice, I just prefer some more than the others.

Chocaddict~thanks for the comment :) You'll love the transformation that this polish will give you.
