Above & Below: QRS Jamaican Dream, a mint creme with a hint of blue. I was reminded of Barry M Mint in some lighting, and China Glaze For Audrey in others. It is more mint than blue though, most definitely. Of course I had to matte it as shown below, using one coat of Essie's Matte About You.
I managed to get through 1 box (6 polishes) and have 3 boxes to go, so let's get started! Ignore the state of my nails, ignore my cuticles which need attention, and ignore my lack of clean-up because I dropped my favorite angled brush into the bottle of acetone, and it melted after I tried in vain to save it. Of the 6 polishes I've tried, every one of them dried extremely fast. Not just dry to the touch, but dry as in I removed a load of laundry less than 5 minutes after applying one of them, loaded the dryer, and started another load of laundry without incident. I wasn't trying to be careful not to ruin my paint job, because I'd already photographed it and was ready to remove it and move on to the next shade. The only one I'm uncertain about is Jamaican Dream. I had to use 4 coats to get even coverage. I am not a master of creme application, so it may be part me. I added 2 drops of thinner after I did the third coat and it seemed to have a much better consistency. The rest were all 2 coats, and done rapidly, so you can see for example, on the tip of one of my fingers wearing The Arabian Nights, there's a small spot that I missed with the second coat. My thoughts: Do I love these? Pretty much, I'd have to say that I do. Their best quality? The shades are all unique and they dry extremely fast. They are very inexpensive and the service from QRS is top notch. Their worst quality? Honestly, I can't find too much to complain about at all, other than the consistency of Jamaican Dream, which I believe was cured with a bit of thinner. These are salon quality polishes that are much less expensive than most and better performing than many others also. If you'd like more information on cost and shipping, just read my previous post from yesterday. Coming next today will be The Arabian Nights, a deep charcoal gray with multi-colored glitter.
