China Glaze Retro Diva in Short & Sassy

Here's my third polish in the swatch-fest I've been posting today from the Get Down Tonight 6-pack, and I think I'll hold off on the other three for a day or two. My favorite dog ever, past-present-future is not doing well at all and I made 'the call' to my vet, so I'm waiting for him to call me back. I think I'm going to see if I can get Max out in the sunshine for a bit. He's a 13 year old German Shepherd, so he's had a good, long life, but he's my dog of a lifetime. Even though I still have a female German Shepherd and a little Shih Tsu, Max is, without playing favorites, the best dog I've ever known, so this is very difficult. I've been putting off the inevitable and playing with my polishes all morning trying to distract myself with pretty colors, but it's one of those things that has to likely be done, sooner rather than later, for his sake. On with the polish description...Short & Sassy is probably my favorite of these so far, followed closely by Let's Groove. It's a very deep garnet red with red shimmer and it looks rich and beautiful to me. You didn't think I was going to let the day go by without applying a matte top coat to something now, did you?
hey hun,the polishes are gorjuz im sorry 2 hear about max =(
ReplyDeleteMary you are updating way too fast for me to catch up! But I'm loving all these CG retro diva collection. They look great on you. The color club milky white base coat made it look very interesting!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I know it's heartbreaking...
ReplyDeleteI love what milky white did to this polish. Gorg!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your beloved dog. It's such a horrible time when that has to happen.
All gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSending positive thoughts your way.I've been prolonging the inevitable for the past few years (my cat is 17)I know what a difficult decision this is to make.
Sending you hugs down the internet - one of our dogs is a 'dog of a lifetime' and I'm so attached to her - she's just a young thing so hopefully we have many many years ahead of us, I can't imagine her not being around.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is a gorgeous color on your fingers, and I actually love how your accident turned out!
ReplyDeleteSending you my hugs, and my hugs to Max. It's a tough thing to deal with, they are family members.
Mary, I was exited to look at your post because I love the nailpolish colour you've selected. However, my excitment turned to sadness when I read about Max :( I am sorry to hear about Max. It's a heartbreaking decision and very tough one to make - I am thinking of you x
ReplyDeleteOh gee, I' really sorry to hear that about your dog :o(
ReplyDeleteThat 6-pack of polishes seems to be full of gems, I might end up simply getting it instead of trying to pick the best ones.
With the matte top coat, short&sassy remind s me of the swatches of Nubar's Avant-Guarde I've see, it could be a good alternative to it.
Nailz~thanks for the compliment and for your well wishes :)
ReplyDeleteNail Fanatic~sorry! I'll slow down :) I was surprised what the Milky White did, kind of interesting.
Inbal~thanks, he's still with us, but I don't know for how long.
Nessa~I know, isn't that cool with the base on top? Darn animals, you get so attached to them and then they have to leave us eventually.
Pinkginger~thanks so much for the thoughts. I really appreciate it :)
Selina~you know how I feel then. I always say 'no more' every time we lose one because I get so attached and it's hard to let them go, but then I always get another one.
Nicole~the base as a top coat looked really pretty in the sun, but I couldn't get a decent shot of it. Thanks for the hugs. They are part of the family for sure.
Danielle~such kind thoughts, thank you for them. But I'm glad you like the polish :)
Chocaddict~thanks for your thoughts. About the polish, I thought the same way. I almost got individuals until I started looking closely at the colors and am glad I went this way.
Mary I'm so sorry about Max. I definitely know what that's like. My heart goes out to you and your family. You'll make the best decision for Max. He's a well loved dog. Your nails look lovely. You have plenty of polish to play with as a distraction. Lots of love I'm sending to you and your family. (((hugs and kisses to you))).
ReplyDeleteIf you bring the Essie Matte topcoat in public and start mattifying strangers' nails, then I will start to worry. Short and Sassy is a must have for me. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read about Max. I lost my 15 year old cat Perth this Spring. I have an idea of what you are going through. Lots of love to you and your family.
That matte Essie topcoat is so nice! It really gets matte. And that red polish, LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your dog Max! It's so sad when you lose someone so close that it's like losing a family member, we lost our cocker spaniel many years ago and whenever I look at his picture, I think of him often. May he rest in peace Amen.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to post now but I have to say red is your color Mary, the swatches are sensational and love the Mattes. Plus, can't get over your new hair style, it's like a whole new look for you, love that. P.S. I wish you would have a amazing box to check along with cool.
Mc Huggs :)
