The Last of My Pure Ice & An Emerald Sparkle Dupe?

Above: Thumb=Strapless, Index=Really Rio, Middle=All Nighter, Ring=China Girl, Pinky=Heart Breaker. Taken outdoors in sunlight, 2 coats each.
Below: The last 6, all used in today's post L-R: Kiss Me Here, Heart Breaker, Strapless, Really Rio, China Girl, All Nighter.

Above: Creative's NFS was used as the base. A very dark teal shimmer. 2 coats.
Below: 2 coats of Strapless applied on the Index and Middle Fingers, 2 coats of Heart Breaker applied on the Ring and Pinky fingers. I love how it turned green! It looks very much like China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle. Click pics for close-up. It's stunning in real life, but I took many pictures and none turned out as beautiful as it looks in actuality.
Below: This is a base using Kiss Me Here (medium gray creme) and layered with 2 coats of Really Rio. It's kind of different, a dark burnt orange color.
Below: Pure Ice Kiss Me Here, a nice medium gray creme.
This post will conclude my Pure Ice Brand Focus and I hope you've all enjoyed it. I had quite a bit of fun playing with some layering combinations I hadn't tried before and was totally surprised by the similarities between layering Pure Ice Heart Breaker over Creative Nail Design's NFS, to China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle. Heart Breaker is extremely sheer, but is a great polish for layering. Today I swatched the last 6 of my Pure Ice's and also did a bit of layering with some of them. I wish I had more time to try other combinations to show you, but I think these posts give you a pretty good idea that for less the $2.00 each, you get a versatile bottle of nail polish, depending on what colors you choose. Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is our second drawing for the May Contest, so if you're a follower and haven't entered or perhaps a lurker who would like to enter, read the informational box in the top right corner titled "May Contest" and send me an e-mail today.

  1. Wow I love that green you made! and I really like the grey too! I can't wait to get a set of these and start experimenting! Thanks Mary!

  2. How cool! Now I want to go experiment with my Pure Ice polishes! You're dead on...with how great Pure Ice is for layering.

  3. I like Kiss me Here and the dark teal shimmer, really striking.

  4. That green color is awesome girl! Who would have ever thought those two colors would produce that!? Very unexpected in a good way.

Thanks for the Pure Ice focus, that looks like it was a lot of work and time consumming! Thank you Mary - your great!

  5. All Nighter, China Girl and Kiss Me Here are my favorites of this group ;)
It's amazing how the result can end up so unexpected and, in this case, gorgeous!

  6. Kiss Me Here and Strapless look like dead-on dupes for two Barry M's I have.

Thankyou for taking the time and effort to show these to us!

  7. the sparkely blue ones nice and the dark teal one :) i like the bottals aswell xxx

  8. Kitty~it's hard for me to find a gray that I like and this one is one of my favorites. The green surprised me!

Velvet~I want to see what you come up with! Usually you can kind of tell ahead of time, but that Heart Breaker over the NFS was, Wow!

Clockwork~I love the NFS all by itself (even though it's not a Pure Ice). The gray is nice, I agree.

Brooke~the green is a winner, for sure. You're very welcome, it took some time but I enjoyed doing it.

Vanessa~I think I like all of the ones I have for one reason or another. And yes, the end result is usually amazing!

Helen~I will someday have a Barry M to call my own (I hope!). I'm glad you enjoyed these posts.

Nail Polish Junkie~the sparkly blue one was really pigmented. It has a blue base instead of clear, so it gave good coverage on it's own.

  9. These posts were lovely! Strapless and heart breaker are gorgeous The layering with Really Rio was surprising, very cool.

We do have Walmart's but they do not sell Pure Ice, but I am thankful for my mini Indulge brand....

Another excellent informative post ~ Thank-you

  10. I've been buying Pure Ice polishes for the past month but I've never seen the Kiss Me Here one that you have! Is that part of the regular line and are they still selling it?

  11. Those blue and green are stunning ! I never used Pure Ice polishes, and we don't have them here, but from what you've posted, they seem to have a really nice colors, so I think I'll search them in the web :-)

  12. Deez~I'm so glad you enjoyed the info on Pure Ice. You don't need a WalMart when you have the other stores you make those great finds at!

Nikita~welcome! Kiss Me Here is fairly new and was added to our display about a month ago. It should be part of the regular line. About 5-6 newer ones came out a month or so ago, but I don't remember what the others were.

Tuli~they are really pretty good also, as far as wear and the application is great on most of them. I don't remember how many colors are in the display, but it's a lot!

  13. Mary thank you for all your time and effort doing this series. I like all of your layering colors.

  14. Heart Breaker do look like Emerald Sparkle, I love that polish! Strapless looks amazing too!

  15. Lucy~you're welcome, I'm happy everyone enjoyed the pictures and information. Layering is always fun for me, sometimes a disappointment, but usually a nice surprise to how things turn out :)

Alexlyndra~Those two are really nice, although Heart Breaker alone is rather sheer and plain. But layering it seems to be it's strong point!
